Hi!! I’m Komal Surwade,a Self-Taught Artist born & brought up in the Tiger Capital of India – Nagpur.

I’m obssesed with plants, flowers, colors, textures, cats,birds & butterflies, art, craft and pretty stationary supplies, babies & toddlers, korean dramas, eye-makeup, vintage things, antiques, ancient and historical architecture, old doors and windows.

I’ve been creative from an early age, my childhood memories with my mom are filled with doing creative things such as painting and embroidering table cloths, bedsheets and handkercheifs. Sculpting fruits and vegetables with clay and painting them. As I grew older I was always engaged in different types of crafts and sculpting dolls with clay.

I’m an IT graduate but my obssession with babies/toddlers lead me to become a kindergarten teacher.

 I have a specialization in Early Childhood Care & Education, and Montessori methods of Teaching with a 10+ years of teaching experience. I’ve taught academics, art & craft to various age groups but the age group from 1-8 years is my favorite to be around and teach. 

I fell in love with watercolors in 2016 but I feel most satisfied when I’m experimenting and exploring various painting mediums and techniques. The reason you will always see me painting with various mediums like acrylics, gouache, metallic colors, using lots of gold ( both gold paint & gold foil ), adding thick textures. And  I like to embroider my paintings sometimes, love having the best of all worlds in my creative process.

 I’m a big time hoarder of pretty things, books, stationary, packaging materials and almost everything that grabs my attention.

 I’m an introvert. Not shy just selectively social.

I can have Ice-Cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I love to sing and have won a few singing competitions in college. I have studied & completed third year of Indian Classical Vocals. I also did modelling for a brief period of time before Covid and theatre in childhood and for a brief period in college.

My favourite colors are Electric blue, Navy blue, Hot Pink, Mauve, Indigo & Lemon Yellow.
